Indonesia Develop E-tourism To Pull Travelers

Minister of Tourism (Menpar) Arief Yahya said, the international community is exploring the virtual world looking for tourist destinations in Indonesia through search engines such as Google is still relatively small.

"In the Asia-Pacific region, there are approximately 300 million people looking for a travel destination via the internet. However, only about 80 thousand who seek tourist destinations of Indonesia, "said Arief Yahya Menpar during a visit to Batam on Sunday.

That figure is even less than one percent of the total cyberspace explorers who seek tourist destinations.

"More are looking for (destinations) Malaysia," Arief said that some time ago met with representatives of Google.

Therefore, digital media become the foundation Kemenpar to promote Indonesian tourism, that is through the concept of e-Tourism.

E-tourism continues to be a new concept touted as one form of digitalized marketing promotion and development of tourism in order to perform a two-fold to achieve the target of 20 million foreign tourists visiting (tourists) in 2019.

Campaigns and digital versatile program that became the mainstay of the Minister of Tourism (Menpar) Arief Yahya to deal with Indonesian tourism promotion budget which is still very low.

Arief said that 60 percent of the total number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia for cultural tourism, while the other 30 percent being attracted to nature Indonesia.

While Indonesia in 2014 only recorded the numbers of foreign tourists amounted to 9,435,411, up 7.2 percent compared with the year 2013 recorded 8,802,129 foreign tourists.

With such growth rates, Arief said the Indonesian tourism industry has been "sustainable" or continue to grow because of the higher than average rate of world tourism growth of 4.7 percent.

"It is not yet competitive enough," said Arief.

While the government is targeting to attract 20 million tourists by 2019 later.

To realize the target of foreign tourists in 2019, is not enough just to improve the quality of human resources, but pemeritah prepare a strategy should, among others, improve the tourism infrastructure, the infrastructure of ICT (Information and Communication Technology), the cleanliness and hygiene as well as facilitate access and connectivity to tourist destination , said Arief.

Infrastructure improvements are expected at the same time will boost the competitiveness of tourism at global level Indonsia currently ranks 70 to 30 world rankings in 2019 later.
